“A.I. For The Next Era” - Interview Between Reid Hoffman & OpenAI CEO Sam Altman

Artificial intelligence has arrested my attention.

I’ve been mostly focused on how A.I. changes the nature of creative work, especially around the issues I care most about — interrupting mass incarceration, protecting migrants and refugees, and environmental causes.

But I noticed that I needed to rise about the noise and learn much more about the underlying technology from the people building that tech.

Sam Altman is one of those builders.

The CEO of OpenAI — he company behind ChatGPT, Dall•e, and Whisper — sat with Reid Hoffman for an interview at Greylock’s Intelligent Future event.

I work almost exclusively in the non-profit space as a creative consultant, and specifically for organizations working on specific social challenges (interrupting mass incarceration, protecting migrants and refugees, and accelerating climate justice and sustainability).

Organizations like these that are looking at ways a.i. can support their operations and advance their narratives are putting themselves in the most resilient positions.

Adoption will accelerate success, and refusal will likely make the organization obsolete.

Aye, I’m Jay. You’re on my personal site where I post things I make about interrupting mass incarceration, protecting migration, environmental justice & sustainability, language, communications, storytelling, creativity, and tech.
