Hometown screening of Digging In

Sunday November 19, 2023 | Kansas City, MO

Thank you to all of you who joined us at the theater for our hometown screening and celebration of Digging In!

About this event

We had screened Digging In online and in several other locations around the US, so it was time to bring it home to Kansas City!

100 of our friends, family, and supporters joined us to celebrate, watch the film, ask questions, enjoy some bison jerky, and pose in front of the step-and-repeat. (Thank you to everyone who came!)

We hosted the event on the Sunday before Thanksgiving — a perfect time to reflect not only on the US agriculture system and who controls our food, but also on what mythologies inform our culture.

We’re grateful at all times to our supporters. Next stop for the film: a streaming platform!

If you’re interested in hosting a screening in your community, please get ahold of me. Thanks!

About Digging In

From KC-filmmakers Nathan Johnson and Jay W. Austin, Digging In follows our host (Masika Henson) around the country to understand who controls our food, who owns the the land it’s grown upon, and whether our systems can adapt to a changing climate.

Digging In was developed in partnership with Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders (SAFSF) and the Vatheuer Family Foundation (VFF).
